i wish there was a railroad where i lived, so i could take walks by myself every morning, soaking in the freshness to prepare myself for the day ahead.

Its inevitable that people change. But what if they change to the degree that you no longer know them at all anymore? You used to respect them, and although their jokes were sometimes bland and their attitude cocky, it was an intimate kind of friendship. Now, when you hear them speak with cockiness, it rubs the wrong way because it’s just a little too much. When you hear their jokes, it’s a cold joke. & then you try to convince yourself that perhaps, just perhaps, things could be like they were before. You could still be friends. That person will be there for you when things in your life turn upside down. But when that time arrives, and you call them, they’re not there for you anymore. They might have a significant other that needs attending to. They’re busy with other interests, much more important than little, little you. And then this is when you realize your loss, just how big it is and how much you regret not trying harder to keep that friendship. But … it’s impossible to go back, for some of those ‘lost ones’. They’ve changed inside & out, and so have you. Taken different paths at the fork of the road, and never to merge again. Then all you can do is believe is that if fate was to have it, then one day the two of you would meet again, at the same road. If fate deems it not, then there’s nothing to be done. Nothing.
